Most questions about this gallery come down to one of four things: using an image, sending in a set of your own, ordering a print, or checking a detail on a specific route. Here is where each of those goes.
If you want to use a photograph from a trail entry, write to us with the intended use and the trail it belongs to. Terms are agreed case by case, so there is no fixed form to fill in beyond the contact form.
Hikers, trail runners and cyclists send in sets shot on foot over several seasons. Say which route the images cover and what the ground looked like when you walked it. Submitted images may be reviewed for the trail index.
Prints are handled through the same contact form. Tell us the trail and the size you have in mind, and we will come back on what is possible for that frame.
Ask about surface, shade, wind exposure or access points on a specific entry. Field notes cover those four things, and if something is unclear, a short message with the route name is enough.
The contact form is the single place for licensing, submissions, prints and route questions. It asks for your name, an email address, what the message is about, the trail it refers to and the message itself. Nothing is created on your behalf and no account is needed.
Before sending anything, it helps to read how we handle messages and images in our privacy policy and the terms that apply to the gallery.
Licensing questions, print requests and new photo sets all arrive through the same channel. If you are pointing at a specific trail entry, name it in your message so the note lands on the right route.
The gallery is run from Johannesburg, and the trail material itself comes from contributors who walk, run and ride the island routes across several seasons.

The contact form is the place for anything that needs a reply. Use it to ask about licensing an image from the gallery, to offer your own set from a route you walk or ride, to request a print, or to ask a plain question about a specific trail entry. If your message is about one route, name it — it saves a round of guessing.
Submissions are reviewed before anything is added to the trail index. That review is the only thing the form confirms; it does not create an account, a booking or a download.

Most of what reaches the gallery inbox falls into a handful of questions. The answers below cover what the trail index holds, what a submission needs to include, and how the review actually works. Nothing here is a promise of a reply window or a guarantee of publication.
A note stays short and factual: surface type, how much shade the route holds, where wind hits hardest, and where you can actually get on and off the path. Route names and access points matter more than a description of the view.
Images shot on foot, in sequence, and across more than one season are the most useful. Wide plates that show the ground and the surrounding cover work better than a single dramatic frame. Captions stay plain and name what is visible.
Submissions are read against the trail they belong to. If a set is incomplete or the location is unclear, it may sit until the route is confirmed. Sending images does not transfer rights, and review does not guarantee that a set is added to the index.
For licensing, name the intended use and the trail entry you are working from. For prints, give the size and orientation you have in mind. Both go through the same contact form, so there is no separate queue to watch.
The same path reads differently in summer and winter. Stone that is firm in dry weather can stay damp for days under tree cover, and low sun keeps long stretches in shadow. Notes and images are kept per trail so you can compare those conditions directly.
There are no downloadable files, gated guides or route packs. Everything published lives on the trail pages themselves, and the trail index is the entry point. If a route is not in the index, there is no hidden version of it elsewhere.
Still unsure where a question belongs? The contact page carries the form and the postal address, and the privacy policy explains what happens to the details you submit.
